Birmingham embraces MCM. Or at least one reporter and one photographer from the Birmingham News embrace MCM (thanks, Linda and Mark!). And our kitchen was the catalyst. Sadly the online version of the news features more high school sports stories than home-and-garden entries, so my photographs will have to do for now. The deep drawers in the base cabinets were a big hit.

ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, I saw this article in the paper and loved what you have done! I live in B'ham and am a huge mid-century modern fan, too! I am a big fan of Cliff May homes and my neighbors across the street lived in an Eichler house out in L.A.. I love the photos of the modern homes around here and I live very close to a lot of them. I am so excited to see your new on-line publication Southern Modern. Would love to get together & chat sometime!-Lee Ann:)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments -- but Southern Modern is actually Atlantan Jeannie Johnston's baby. She has taken on the entire region while I confime myself to the Yellowhammer State. Join the Magic City Modern group on Facebook -- I want to get enough folks on board to have our very own Atomic Crash Party like the super-cool Baz of Atomic Indy. Let's show 'em how it's done down here!
Congrats on the press. It's always great seeing people recognized for encouraging good design in their homes!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jennifer, I am so sorry that I got your MCM mixed up with Southern Modern. I found out about you both at the same time, through your article in the paper about your fabulous ranch makeover!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE MCM & am so excited to join your facebook group & meet other mid-century ranch lovers in B'ham! I would still love to get together for coffee/ lunch sometime. -LA:)
