I Love WPA Art

I know it's not technically MCM. But I just love this stuff. This mural is in the ca. 1929 Montevallo, AL post office:

WPA art

I understand the funding for these murals wasn't always through WPA, but that is how they are known. Here is a link to other depression-era art in Alabama's libraries, post offices and courthouses:

  2. Jen,

Our office (led by Birmingham Modernist John Fuller) has entered a contemporary sustainable design competition and is one of 12 finalists out of over 400! I love your blog, and the design might make a good post. Also, we're looking for votes to help our design win. Here's a link to the entry: http://www.freegreen.com/whosnext/view/plan-general.aspx?id=306

and I'd love to send you better quality images if you like (andy@fto-architects.com).

    Thanks for your terrific blog!
